Chinese Sub-Aquatic Mines

Also from the 14th Century Fire Drake Manual, this is a small reconstruction of an ancient Chinese sub-aquatic Mine. This weapon was suspended within rivers using ox bladder floats anchored by stones, with a waterproof pigs' intestine tube to encase the fuse, and would have been timed to detonate at interverals relative to the passage of enemy vessels. Originally the device would have contained up to four or five times the amount of Black Powder used in this experiment, which was limited for the purpose of safety.
