Roman Corvus

A half-size (20") reconstruction of a Roman naval boarding weapon known as the "Corvus". When its rope bindings were released, the vertical gang-plank would descend upon an enemy ship, securing the vessel with a metal spike and allowing troops to proceed across. However as several problems in this reconstruction illustrated, the Corvus eventually became obsolete due to the high level of impracticality associated with its use.
